JSR Micro, Inc. is an industry leading fine chemicals supplier to the high tech industry. JSR has established the reputation of being a leading-edge manufacturer by providing products of the highest quality, developing processes that ensure predictable, repeatable, best-in-industry results.
JSR used a legacy application developed on the MS Access platform for managing their Quality Control processes. The application had been continuously updated to adapt to changing quality requirements of the customers and new product additions. There were performance issues and restrictions on the no. of users who could use the system at any given time. The platform had reached its limits and was no longer updatable or scalable.
We revamped the architecture of the Quality Control (QC) system and developed a Web based application from the ground up. The application has a central, flexible database, a robust system design to overcome the limitations faced by the existing application and improved efficiencies across the board. It also has a very interactive and easy to use interface.
The main features of the application are:
- An interactive, AJAX based application with user friendly features which leaves the windows based application far behind in user experience.
- Extremely extensible architecture which allows adaptation of data entry forms and reports when new business needs arise without modifying the code.
- Highly secure and scalable application that performs data operations efficiently even with many concurrent users.
- Complete QC process management system both for raw materials (inputs) and finished goods (outputs).
- Customizable user roles and user levels for security management.
- Concurrent data entry for the same product by different users.
- Support for Dual Quality control standards (by JSR and Customer) with automatic application of quality standards (specifications).
- Automatic QC reports (Certificates of Assurance) generation based on product specifications.
- Export of Certificate of Assurance to different formats like XML, CSV and PDF.
- Data import into SAS for statistical analysis.
